The Next Chapter

The next chapter. Since my breast cancer diagnosis this past summer, every second of my life has been focused on battling cancer, beating it, and recovering from the surgeries. With my body getting stronger daily and the pain subsiding – I can sense a shift occurring into a new chapter. Without the need to actively battle cancer daily and having recovered successfully from most of my physical wounds – my emotional scars have come to the forefront. There’s no way to go through a year that includes emergency brain surgery and breast cancer, all within 6 months of each other, and not have some trauma and loss to work through. I won’t sugar coat it – It’s lonely and just as difficult of a stage to be in, but your continued support during this less physically demanding chapter of my cancer journey, is more appreciated than I can ever express!

I look forward to being fully recovered in the new year, therefore I have officially set a return to work date for February 1, 2022. If you are a patient of mine – please keep an eye out for an email within the next few days, outlining my return to Optimal Performance Clinic. I’m so grateful to both Dr Sarah and Dr Aidan for continuing to see my patients during my absence.

Thank you to all of you that have taken time out of your busy lives to be there for me and my family, while I navigate my cancer journey! I know your support was and continues to be an essential part of my recovery.

With Gratitude,

Elna

  1. Hi ELNA,
So glad to hear from you! You’ve been in my thoughts.
Yes, the mental health journey needs to take the foreground and is so important in the recovery of Anything, that makes an impact in our lives, no matter how big or small. As you are well aware, that Mind, body and spirit are all connected.
With our conversations in the past and sharing experiences and stories, I hope you can recall what similarities we shared in our experiences, in finding avenues for total wellness. I hope you will also be successful in this next chapter of recovery. I’d love to chat with you sometime, when you have the time and strength, or if you just need a voice at the other end of the line.

    Love,

  2. Dear Elna, I’m so glad that physically you are getting better and better and plan to return to your work in the new year.

You have faced this difficult journey with such courage and I have confidence that the pain and trauma you have undergone will ease with time. You have many friends on your cheering team and if there’s any way I can be of help please don’t hesitate in letting me know.

A young friend of mine went through breast cancer surgery and recovery not so long ago. She tapped in to the resource ‘inspire health’ and she told me it made a huge difference. I hope you might find comfort there too.

    Warmly,

    Brenda
