An update from Elna

They say the first step is the hardest but it is also the one I am so happy to have behind me.
Am now home and recovering from my double mastectomy. Jamall, my mom and the kids are taking great care of me (although they refuse to give me a bell) and will spend the next few weeks in recovery from this stage of the journey.

I cannot say thank you enough for the support you have all shown to date and hope that you know it is noticed, appreciated and provides so much comfort.

Thank you for the meals, for the support on go-fund-me page, for those that helped get the house ready to be a place of calm and for those that are helping keep the kids busy and entertained.

I cannot wait to pay you all back for your kindness, and cannot thank you enough for the kindness yet to come.

This is just the start of the journey but I am well equipped to take it thanks to all of you.

Elna

PS Because a few have asked – please don’t hesitate to share this blog or the details of the go-fund-me page. Am happy to share the journey (we are just password protecting any blogs that have personal details like our address or phone numbers)

  1. Wow, Elna, I did not know that you went through a double mastectomy. Geez, that is tough, but knowing you, you will bounce right back quickly. Carmen only informed me of your issue just about a week ago. I am glad you are at home and being looked after.
I shall keep in in touch.

  2. You look absolutely gorgeous in your hospital photo. My mother had a dbl mastectomy at age 50. I can share with u the details of her reconstruction privately, if u wish.
We are happy to help out with taking the kids to and from school this fall. Let us know.
